Logo Iterations

Night Games is a subscription box company that mails outdoor game equipment to children and family. The purpose behind Night Games is to encourage kids to go outside and get active. For the logo, I created an abstract person running. The arm are in the shape of a capital N as well, relating back to the name of the company. The logo can be used with or without the box around the man. The box related back to the company being a subscription box company. Since the company encourages playing games at night the color scheme used dark navy blues for the background and bright vibrant colors for the packages and secondary branding material.

Subscription box

For the design of the subscription box, Capture the Flag was used as an example. Dark colors were used in the background to reflect the time of day. The textures in the background are Xs and Os and arrows, relating back to football plays and other games. There are also vectorized kids in the background, hinting at the target audience. When you open the box, there are the pops of color with the three vibrant bands and the game of the month is displayed on the inside of the top flap.

Individual packaging

Each individual package gets one of the three vibrant brand colors, yellow, pink or purple. The bright colors provide a pop when opening the subscription box and provide good contrast to the dark navy colors. The packages are monochromatic based on whatever color it was assigned. The example equipment for Capture the Flag were glow sticks, rope and flags.

Reflection

This was a really fun company to create. It was a project that allowed me to add onto later with the app to go along with it. Giving the packaging the correct feel for the audience was the most difficult part. The packages needed to have a youthful feel and also stay geometric and modern to match the logo.

An interesting part of this project was that the individual packages had to be hand made by me. This really allowed me to use my hands and create something, which I hadn’t done in a while. This also allowed me to work on my photography skills and learning how to document my work. I think if I were to revisit the project I would have staged the flag differently, but I am happy with how the branding turned out.
